Coffee And Du's
Greetings all-
Saturday, I particpated in my first Duathlon, a 2.5 mile run, a 10.5 mile ride, and a 2.5 mile run.
It went exceptionally well, as my sponsors were supportive, and the crowd was great.
Cumulatively, it was an exciting and eventful experience.
Until the last leg, where I was hit by a car. No serious injuries, though people were terrified, and the 84 year old gentlement who had the distinct pleasure of running a stop sign and hitting me, nearly went into cardio arrest. Nevertheless, I got up and finished, because I Tri.
On a lighter note, I have to continually state, how good coffee tastes following a long period of endruance effort. It must be the caffeine or something of the like, for its effects are seemignly magical.
Take Care all.

My Tri Blog.
I write in efforts to familiarize the reader of said blog, with my background, present condition, and future aspirations.
My passions and desires are in the field of endurance sport and government. I’m a full time student (Junior) at a small, catholic liberal arts college in New England. I’m a political science major, minoring in French. To paraphrase the late George Sheehan, I often question whether I am a student who runs, or a runner who studies. To further articulate this point, I often find that running and science are interchangeable. Unlike it’s counterparts, running in and of itself is a science. It is dissimilar from society’s “revenue sports”, such as basketball and baseball and what was once hockey, in that the layman can easily pick up a ball and throw it, as unnatural a movement that is, while a man can always run, and in fact was constructed by the Creator to do so, yet rarely does
My passion for government and its policies lay at the moment primarily in the national arena, though I have teased with the idea of International Relations and diplomacy, though am admittedly “un-cultured”. Naturally, one may inquire into my political affiliation. Many have presupposed that this Brooks Brothers wearing, Bostonian trotting, Oakley sunglasses devotee is a die hard, true-red Republican. Yes, my views are strongly conservative in many areas, as are my values, many of which toddle on the Liberation line. Nevertheless, I am a registered Democrat in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts.
My love for running is truly insatiable. I must run, for it is part of who I am. My passion is in distance running, for I feel shorter distances (5k and below) are for those who simply need instant result and satiation, and therefore naturally look at time as the most readily available remedy. In distance running, the distances are constantly changing, always increasing. My first marathon was Boston in 2005. April 18, 2005, has been to this point the greatest day of my 20 years existing on this planet.
I know have begun a new quest, the world of Multi-Sport endurance training. I am training for a Triathlon in August of 2005, and am competing in my first Duathlon on Saturday, July 23, 2005. I am foreseeing my conglomeration of running and Tri’s to withhold the largest amount of space on this blog.
To encapsulate, I will outline the blog as follows:
Personal – Daily observations regarding family, friends, and societal note.
Training- Daily notes regarding my Tri Training, and general mood
Quix- This is somewhat of an adaptation, or extension, of a file I have developed on my Mac for sometime, as a sort of “immediate reflection” to events and/or experiences in endurance sport.
Lastly, thanks for taking a read.
